| Darius Cekanuskas Student of Vilnius Academy of Arts Lithuania dizainas@takas.lt "Hello! I am Darius Cekanauskas. Currently I‘m studying at Vilnius Academy of Arts, Master studies of Design. My main activity directions are: furniture, interior and elements of small sculpture forms. With my colleagues, who study design and other art specialities, we try to be active in everyday life of designers in Lithuania. One of the most important events is exhibitions (fairs), where each of us is trying to show what he has done during the last year or his newest creation, new ideas. There are 3 main design exhibitions in Lithuania. Firstly, furniture fair where furniture and creations of separate young authors are being exhibited in balcony area - young designers gallery. Then, we have annual graphic design exhibition organized by Lithuania Graphic Design Association and interior elements exhibition „Detail“. There are also a number of smaller exhibitions, which are not so bright, but also receive attention. A good thing is that the attention is coming also from the other countries, members of jury become famous foreign architects and designers and that helps to increase the prestige of the fair. Participation in such fairs, obviously, is one of the main engines and is beneficial for all society that find new tendencies, designers who can show their most interesting offers and ideas to the society. In that way the creations can be compared one with another and even with creations from another country. Joining the team of the EU designers, designers of Lithuania will be happy about forthcoming expansion. New perspectives are opening up for participation in the new fairs, which were reglamented only for the EU members. The EU designers will be able to express themselves in Lithuania, as well as Lithuanians will be able to try to participate in different competitions as equal partners. If till now it was available only for the most active, then from now, for example, the first course student will expose his work in Brussels. The increase in design quality is useful for all countries, which is also caused by the exchange of cultural values. Each country has its unique ethnocultural basics, and such exchanges are definitely useful. It would help for the designers of Lithuania and the EU to seek for higher design quality and to provide it to customers, society, which is becoming more informed, blankly said more fastidious. Five years ago there was one situation, today everything is different. Lithuanian user became the European user." |
